Default Bread - 11-03-2007, 10:32 PM

When whole wheat bread is given in daily eating plans, how many calories per slice are you figuring? My bread is 90 cals per slice! So it is hard for me to stick to the calories stated for each meal. I do try to get as close as I can by cutting back in some way, but was just wondering what bread you recommend.

Default your bread is fine - 11-04-2007, 04:17 PM

Hey again Maryea, your bread is fine. We based all of our figures on the average brand of any food group. The average slice of wheat bread is 80 cals. So that is what we base wheat bread on. That is not a big deal that your brand of wheat bread is 90 cals. Just stay the course. Its seems that you are doing very well on this diet and your taking this very serious which is how progress begins.

Oh, guess I was figuring it wrong...I thought it was more like 80 calories for TWO slices! Just today I did find some whole wheat bread with only 40 calories a slice though and am going to try it.

Default ezekiel - 08-19-2009, 09:27 PM

hey, I am a big fan of ezekiel which is made from sprouted grains.....sesame is my favourite and it is best toasted I find. The only thing is it tends to be a bit pricey - in my part of the world, it is about five dollars a loaf, so I keep it in the freezer and take out a slice or two as needed. It separates very easily.
