Question Today's smart diet article - 02-04-2009, 09:55 AM

In the article posted today, it mentions "When looking for nutritious foods try to avoid prepackaged foods" and yet on my plan 5 out of 7 days you are suggesting just that. Are you suggesting these prepackaged foods more for portion control? I religiously control my sodium intake, aren't these foods loaded with sodium? or is it because they are the "healthy choice" or "lean" versions they are supposed to be good for you. Just a bit of a contradiction here? I'm brand new to this site and was a little disappointed to see these types of food being recommended.

Hello Heather,

We have compiled some of the best pre-packaged meals as options to the diet plan. A lot of people are looking for quick and tasty, yet nutritious meals...and the prepackaged ones cover all of them. Yes, most of them are kind of high in sodium, but if you are drinking the amount of water required for weight loss (atleast 8- 10 oz. Glasses a day) then your body will flush out the sodium. After eating a higher sodium meal, first when you drink a lot of water you will feel bloated, but if you keep drinking it will start to flush the sodium out of your body. Its a wonderful thing! The only time you really have to be on your toes for high sodium intake (over 2400mg a day), is if you have high cholesterol, or high blood pressure, then you should deffinitley avoid higher sodium meals.
