Default Don't Overtrain! - 06-19-2009, 01:21 AM

Just to let everyone know, there is not a such thing of being too active, but you can overtrain. And overtraining has some negative effects on the body. Let me explain....

Overtraining is exercising for one period of time for way to long. So lets say you belong to a gym, and you planned on exercising that day. You did 1.5 hours of cardio on the treadmil, then you wanted to do a little bit of resistance training (with free weights or machines). You would be working out too long, for one period of time. The only way to do this, and not have it raise your cortisol(bad hormone the body releases)levels too high is to take certain supplements (before , during or after your exercise). I always suggest a multivitamin after workout with a 500 mg vit c tablet.

Obviously you want to exercise and be as active as possible, it is better to do a constant activity throughout the day, so your "workout" isnt 3 hours long at the gym.
